Personally I share Gary’s opinion that there are way too many hotel brands out there; chains having nearly 10 price points is unnecessary. But it must be profitable, because they just keep adding more.
It’s been a while since Starwood has debuted a new brand (nine years, in fact). The latest brand debuted yesterday and will be called Tribute . It seems to be geared toward independent boutique style hotels, who wish to retain some amount of independence (and their name) but also fall under the Starwood name.
The Royal Palm South Beach Miami reportedly will be the first Tribute hotel under the new brand.
As a Starwood fan, this is great news as it simply gives more opportunities to earn and redeem points. I’ll be in Miami next month…might check this one out!
